  1. I remember working with this guy when I was stationed at the Jupiter USCG Loran Station but cannot remember his name. He was there just a few weeks before I was shipped out. I used to sit watch in the same chair behind the teletype in the photo. He is facing the two large Loran-C timers (not shown). This was on the US East Coast Loran-C chain and we were the Whisky secondary station. It really was not absolutely necessary to stay awake because there were alarms to alert us if anything required immediate attention. There were always two watch-standers present but one was usually allowed to sleep on the midnight shift.
